Langdock reviewed: What the AI platform can do, how much it costs, and who it’s for

On September 16, 2026, Handelsblattreported that Langdock has replaced its US holding company with a German SE. The company also plans to launch its first proprietary data center later this year, with an investment of 10 to 15 million euros. According to Handelsblatt, the number of customers grew from around 3,000 companies in January to over 13,000 in September, both figures provided by Langdock itself.

Even so, the name is often new to the mid-market. When Langdock spoke at our event in Hamburg in June, many guests were not yet familiar with the platform. We decided to take a closer look: features, pricing, data protection, and the question of who actually owns Langdock. This is based on documentation, terms and conditions, the price calculator, the commercial register, 17 archived versions of the pricing page, and our experience from client projects. All prices are net, as of September 2026.

What is Langdock?

Langdock is an AI platform from Berlin, essentially a ChatGPT for your company. You can choose between 44 models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta, Mistral, and DeepSeek, and according to the provider, your data is stored in Frankfurt. It also includes agents for your documents, workflows, and an API. Billing is per user, with the standard plan costing 23.20 euros per month when billed annually.

Langdock GmbH was founded in Berlin in 2023 and, according to its own statements, participated in the US start-up program Y Combinator that same summer. The founders are Lennard Schmidt, Tobias Kemkes, and Jonas Beisswenger, and TechCrunch lists General Catalyst and La Famiglia as investors. Since September 1, 2026, Judith Dada has been leading the company as Co-CEO alongside Lennard Schmidt. Previously, she was a General Partner at La Famiglia (Handelsblatt, June 25, 2026).

According to press reports, customers include Merck, Trumpf, Mobile.de, Babbel, and Personio. Two case studies from the provider are more representative of the mid-market: at ORT Family, around 80 out of 250 employees were actively using the platform in April 2025. At the Institut für Berufliche Bildung, a 15-person team reports saving 100 to 120 hours per month using a single agent.

What Langdock can do: Chat, agents, workflows, and integrations

Chat and models

On September 23, 2026, the model page listed 44 models from six providers, including GPT-5.5, Opus 5.5, and Fable 5.1. 36 of these run exclusively in EU data centers and are active by default. According to the documentation, new models appear in the US first, and you can expect to wait a few weeks for the EU version.

Seven models run exclusively globally, such as GPT-5 Pro or o3 Pro, while GPT-5.2 is available in both versions. Global models must be enabled by an admin; once enabled, the providers process your input in the USA in accordance with the Data Processing Agreement (DPA). Therefore, decide before you start who will be your admin and which models should be approved.

In addition to the browser, a desktop app for macOS and Windows has been available since September 10, 2026, along with add-ins for Excel and Outlook since July. The mobile app is limited to chat and agents.

Agents

An agent (known as an "assistant" in Langdock until December 2025) is a preconfigured chat with set instructions and its own documents, such as a proposal agent using your templates. According to the documentation, it can handle up to 50,000 characters of instructions, 50 files, and five synchronized folders.

A Langdock case study from January 10, 2026, provides concrete figures: at the staffing agency Hofmann Personal, processing a resume with an agent now takes 1 to 2 minutes, compared to 10 to 15 minutes previously.

Workflows

A workflow starts automatically when something happens: a form is filled out, a specific time is reached, or another system sends a signal via webhook. For developers, there is a code node for JavaScript and Python. Here is how we would set this up for a sales team: a form receives the inquiry, and an agent answers it using data sheets from a SharePoint folder.

The biggest catch: according to the documentation, AI usage in workflows is "not included in the license price," and every model call is charged at API rates. 2,500 runs are included per month. A run is a single execution, such as one answered inquiry. 2,500 runs equal about 100 per workday, which an automated inbox can quickly exceed.

Integrations, knowledge sources, and API

The Knowledge base According to the documentation, it supports up to 1,000 files, but no tables, images, audio, or video files. This means you cannot store Excel lists there as knowledge. Folder Sync for SharePoint, Google Drive, and Confluence is limited to 200 files per folder. If you have a project repository that has grown to include thousands of files, you will need to select what to include beforehand.

Since January 2026, the feature has been searching corporate knowledge across eleven additional connected systems, including SharePoint, Google Drive, Slack, Jira, and Outlook. Users only see content they already have access to in the source system. In April 2026, a G2 user complained that they could only find their own Drive documents. Before announcing it to your team, test it with two or three accounts from different departments.

Depending on the Langdock page, there are "over 50" to 72 ready-made integrations, including Microsoft 365, Salesforce, HubSpot, and Slack. SAP and DATEV are missing. Developers or service providers can connect other systems via MCP , an open standard for custom connections. For SAP, this is available via providers like yunIO/Theobald, but we couldn't find anything for DATEV. Without a developer, you'll have to stick to the ready-made integrations.

How much does Langdock cost? Prices and licenses 2026

These figures are from the Langdock price calculator, as of September 2026, net:

If you see 25 euros mentioned elsewhere: that was the list price until early 2026, and it still remains as a placeholder in the pricing page's source code today. Many articles have picked it up. The calculator comes to 29 euros per month, consisting of 22 euros for the platform and 7 euros for AI usage. With annual billing, there is a 20 percent discount, bringing it to 23.20 euros. Make sure to get the final price confirmed in writing before signing a contract.

There is no price guarantee. Upon renewal, the then-current list price applies, and Langdock provides 30 days' notice (T&Cs § 12). According to archived pricing pages, the monthly price has risen from 20 to 25 and then to 29 euros since 2024.

In addition, there are three items missing from the price card:

• Workflows: 40,000 runs cost 539 euros per month per workspace (449 euros with annual billing), and 100,000 runs cost 1,199 euros (999 euros with annual billing). Unused runs expire.
• API and extra usage: Billing is per million tokens (the building blocks the AI uses to break down text). For GPT-5.5, according to the model page, it's 4.80 euros for input and 28.81 euros for output. Extra usage is optional. If an admin enables it, you continue working at API prices once you hit the fair-use limits, up to a cost cap that is set to 1,000 euros per month by default. Langdock partner DECAID recommends setting it to 200 to 300 euros.
• Governance: This optional add-on module provides audit templates for the EU AI Act, GDPR, and security, and is free until January 1, 2027. After that, it costs 2.80 euros per user per month for the first 50 users with annual billing (3.50 euros monthly), plus the AI costs for the audits.

Since April 2026, fair-use limitshave been in effect: one quota per 5-hour window and one per week, which resets on Mondays. If either of these is exhausted and extra usage is turned off, only the significantly smaller replacement model, GPT-5.6 Luna, will respond. Langdock does not disclose the exact size of these quotas. Business Max provides five times the capacity, and BYOK is exempt (T&Cs § 10). In August 2026, a customer wrote on Trustpilot that they get "the weakest model in about 80% of cases."

Example calculation for 50 users: 50 times 23.20 euros times 12 months comes to 13,920 euros per year, or 17,400 euros with monthly payments. If you add Governance (1,680 euros) and the package with 40,000 workflow runs (5,388 euros) starting in 2027, you'll be looking at around 21,000 euros. On top of that, there are the tokens for the AI steps in your workflows.

Tiered pricing kicks in from the 51st license onwards. For 80 users, you pay for 50 at 23.20 euros plus 30 at 19.20 euros, totaling 1,736 euros per month or 20,832 euros per year.

Data protection and GDPR: Where Langdock stores your data

According to Langdock's Trust Center, your chats and files are hosted on Microsoft Azure in Frankfurt, and stored data never leaves Germany. The EU models from US providers process data in EU data centers. According to the DPA , providers do not store your inputs, and Section 9 of the Terms and Conditions explicitly prohibits training on your data.

There are two exceptions, however. OpenAI scans image and file uploads for abusive content. For Claude 3.5 and 3.7, Anthropic stores inputs and outputs for up to 30 days for abuse prevention, regardless of your workspace settings. Your data protection officer can find out which model processes data where in Appendix 2 of the DPA.

Two auxiliary services are also based in the US: Sentry for error logs and Cloudflare for network services. According to the DPA, both process your data within the EU, with additional safeguards provided by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses.

Most of the models themselves remain dependent on the US. OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and Meta are US corporations, joined by Mistral from France and DeepSeek from China. On September 17, 2026, Zurich-based attorney Martin Steiger noted that we are "still essentially reliant on American IT and AI infrastructure." If you use Microsoft 365, you're already dealing with this dependency anyway.

According to the Trust Center, Langdock is compliant with ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certified (Prescient Security, valid until January 1, 2027), with the DPA version 2.1 attached to the terms and conditions. Sign-in is handled via single sign-on (SAML) using your company login. Langdock does not have its own two-factor authentication; this is handled by your central identity provider, such as Microsoft Entra ID. Admin logs are stored for 90 days.

A dedicated, non-shared installation (single-tenant) is available for 2,000 users or more, and on-premise hosting on your own servers is available for 5,000 users or more. Below that, you share the standard environment with other customers, separated by tenant. In August 2026, consultant Rasso Reng identified this as a deal-breaker for companies with 300 to 1,500 employees.

As long as there is no approved tool, employees often find their own AI, with all the risks of shadow AI.

‍

Who owns Langdock? The Delaware debate and the 2026 relocation

First off, since older articles still rank high on Google: Langdock was never sold to a US buyer. According to Steiger Legal, the founders hold more than 75 percent, and your contractual partner remains Langdock GmbH in Berlin.

On June 19, 2026, Martin Steiger demonstrated using the list of shareholders that Langdock GmbH was 100 percent owned by Langdock Inc. in Delaware. This structure is standard for Y Combinator startups; the Inc. dates back to their time in the program. The timeline:

‍

• January 19, 2026: A shelf SE (a pre-established, empty European public limited company) is entered into the commercial register in Berlin.
• July 14, 2026: The SE is being renamed Langdock Holding SE.
• September 16, 2026: Handelsblatt, dpa, and Euronews report that the "reverse flip" is complete. The SE has replaced the US holding company as the parent company, and according to Langdock, 80 percent of the shares are held by founders and employees in Europe. Handelsblatt and dpa cite the US CLOUD Act, which grants US authorities access to data held by US companies, as well as the Patriot Act, as the reasons for this move.
• September 17, 2026: Steiger confirms more than 75 percent for the founders. For him, the question remains as to where the shares held by General Catalyst and Y Combinator are located: "Exactly who owns and controls Langdock remains unclear."

Since then, the SE has been the parent company, though you continue to sign contracts with the GmbH. It is unclear whether the former Inc. has been dissolved, as sources contradict each other. According to Steiger, it continues to exist as an LLC, while Euronews reports a dissolution. It no longer plays a role as the owner of the GmbH. The location and partners for the announced data center have not yet been disclosed.

Langdock vs. ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and Claude

Prices based on provider websites as of September 24, 2026. ChatGPT comes directly from OpenAI and is limited to OpenAI models. Langdock runs GPT-5.5 alongside Opus, Gemini, and Mistral, your data is stored in Frankfurt, and agents can access your SharePoint folders. Compared to Claude, Langdock acts as an intermediary: you get the same Anthropic models, plus a custom interface, a data processing agreement (DPA), and data storage in Frankfurt. With Anthropic directly, you pay 20 US dollars for the Team plan, and data is stored in the US. However, the 30-day storage policy for Fable 5 and 5.1 also applies via Langdock.

Copilot is a good fit if you spend your whole day working in Word, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams anyway. It doesn't offer synchronized knowledge folders or workflows with code nodes like Langdock does. While Microsoft does offer Anthropic models alongside OpenAI, Microsoft states that these are "currently excluded" from the EU Data Boundary. You can also use both in parallel, in which case you would pay around 41 euros per user per month with an annual subscription, plus the M365 license.

Alternatives to Langdock

When an alternative might be a better fit (pricing as of September 2026):

• meinGPT (Unterhaching): 18 euros per user per month with annual billing, plus model costs—either a flat fee of 9 euros or pay-as-you-go. Hosted by Hetzner in Germany, meinGPT is the obvious choice if a German host is a requirement. However, agents are still in "private beta" there.
• nuwacom (Koblenz): Business 25 euros, Premium 49 euros per user per month with annual billing. A meeting notetaker and business apps are already included in the basic plan.
• CompanyGPT (innFactory): 14,990 euros for setup, then 399 euros per month plus infrastructure in your own Azure tenant, with no per-user license fees. This makes financial sense for teams of about 100 users or more, provided you have your own cloud admin.
• amber (Aachen): Business 17.99 euros per user per month for 50+ users; hosting is provided "by a German company" according to the provider. amber is primarily designed for searching through document management systems, ticketing systems, and SharePoint.
• Open Source (LibreChat, Open WebUI): No license fees, but you’ll need someone to manage the operations and handle your own model contracts. Once your procurement department starts asking for data processing agreements (DPA) and ISO certifications, things get complicated.

Langdock reviews: What users love and what they criticize

As of September 24, 2026, Langdock has a 2.4 out of 5-star rating on Trustpilot (12 reviews) and a 5.0 on G2 (8 reviews). Google shows a 3.9 rating from 58 reviews for their Berlin office, while OMR Reviews has no data yet. The mobile app has a 3.6 rating from 71 reviews in the Apple App Store, where users have criticized crashes and the lack of image upload functionality.

On G2, the main point of praise is data privacy. In March 2025, one CTO cited EU hosting and certifications as the reason for choosing Langdock over ChatGPT. However, none of the eight G2 reviews are from after April 2026, when Langdock changed its limits, and according to G2, one of those reviews was incentivized.

Most of the one-star reviews on Trustpilot appeared only after the switch to token-based limits and focus primarily on those usage caps.

• Usage limits: A corporate client wrote on May 4, 2026: "If 20% of the weekly limit is used up on the simplest individual tasks, something isn't right."
• Communication: A user criticized Langdock on LinkedIn on May 5, 2026: "Langdock changed their usage limits last week. Without any warning." In the same post, they called the founders' apology "transparent and understandable."
• From a partner's perspective: Langdock partner DECAID, which claims to have supported over 30 rollouts, describes the typical false start. Licenses are purchased, the workspace is set up, and an announcement is sent out via email. "Three months later, 8 out of 50 employees are actively using the tool."

For implementation, partners provide figures that Langdock itself does not publish. Techflow estimates 2,500 to 13,000 euros for an initial sprint of two three-week phases. DECAID plans for chat in weeks 1 to 4, agents in weeks 5 to 8, and workflows from week 9 onwards. The provider teamazing estimates 6 to 10 weeks before the benefits become noticeable.

The 2.4 rating on Trustpilot is based on 12 reviews, which is a tiny sample size given their 13,000+ customers. However, more than half of the one-star reviews clearly come from companies. To this day, Langdock has not claimed their profile or responded to any reviews.

Langdock for individuals: What the terms and conditions allow and what is free

According to the terms and conditions, you cannot use Langdock as a private individual. Version 2.1 from September 2026 only permits businesses and public authorities. Sole proprietors, however, can book a single license.

Langdock is only free for seven days. The trial period no credit card required, includes 5 euros in model credit, and ends automatically. • Teams of about 10+ users who prioritize data privacy: especially if you work in Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace. The 23.20 euro fee covers AI chat usage within fair-use limits, and agents can work directly on your SharePoint or Drive folders.
• Mid-sized companies with around 80 employees and no dedicated IT team: This works well with a partner or an internal AI lead. Expect around 20,800 euros in annual licensing costs, plus 2,500 to 13,000 euros for implementation.
• Small teams of five who mostly just want to chat: You likely won't get much use out of agents and workflows. ChatGPT Business costs 21 euros per user per month when billed annually and is usually more than enough.
• Heavy users or those with high workflow volume: Compare workflow packages and token costs against a custom n8n setup and plan for Business Max or BYOK from the start.

Bottom line: Data privacy and model choice make Langdock a winner

Langdock is the best fit for teams that prioritize data privacy and want to use models from multiple providers. You get hosting in Frankfurt, a data processing agreement (DPA), agents that work on your SharePoint folders, and a workflow engine you’d otherwise have to build yourself using n8n. If OpenAI is enough for you and the storage location isn't a dealbreaker, ChatGPT Business is more cost-effective. If you spend your whole day in Word and Outlook, you should take a look at Copilot.

The best way to start: Use the seven-day trial with 10 to 20 pilot users and a single use case, like a proposal-writing agent for your SharePoint folder. After that, book one month without an annual commitment—for 20 users, that’s 580 euros. Set a cap for extra usage at 200 to 300 euros. After four weeks, you’ll see how many pilots are still using it regularly and who hit the limits.
