Google Calendar
Google Calendar is the calendar within their ecosystem: shared, invitations, and appointment booking, integrated with Gmail and Meet.
Google Calendar, Google's own calendar service, has been available since 2006 and is a core component of Google Workspace. It streamlines appointment scheduling by replacing email coordination with shared calendars and invitations that automatically include a Meet link.
Teams can create shared team and room calendars, block out focus times, and allow customers to directly book available slots through appointment booking pages. Its strength lies in its deep integration: an email containing flight details automatically becomes a calendar event, complete with guest status and a video link. Tasks from Google Tasks also appear in the same calendar view.
In corporate environments, Outlook Calendar offers more robust delegation and room management features. For appointment sharing, Calendly provides more advanced options, such as round-robin distribution for teams. Google's booking pages are suitable only for simple scenarios; users who sell appointments or coordinate complex team schedules will find them restrictive.
It's ideal for anyone already using Gmail and Workspace; there's no need for a different tool in that ecosystem. In pure Microsoft environments, Outlook is the go-to, and for complex booking logic, Calendly can be added.
